Stories, pictures, feelings.
We need two photo exhibitions of photojournalist Anna Benedetto, unique in its kind, entitled “Samaya” (which in local language means “Waiting Room”) and “Bangladesh Mission“. Stories, pictures, emotions. ” to engage the public on the enormous work done by volunteers in their humanitarian missions in the lands ravaged by war, work has also had an important recognition by the Dalai Lama on the occasion of a ceremony in San Francisco.
Scars and acid burns, severe trauma from accidents, serious birth defects in the body and face, skin cancers of enormous size “problems” created by war for interventions triggered by plastic surgeons.
Scarring, as a result of accidents, acne, burns are all painful problems, ruining the face, throwing people into despair, they change the personality decreasing the security in social contexts, they lose even the desire to socialize.
Begin with this photo exhibition to ask to Prof. MARIO DINI to talk about this problem and explain how to intervene. Prof. Mario Dini specializes in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, ordinary member of Italian Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (Sicpre) and the new Italian Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (AICPE), and member of ISAPS, International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the most important world society of plastic surgery.
Professor Dini, today we talk about scars on the face, a common problem to many, in addition to acne which particularly penalizes young people.
Victims of road accidents, burn victims, women scarred, disfigured by adult youth and all those who every day, looking in the mirror, wishing to hide those indelible grooves that draw on their faces geometries unnatural and unsightly can finally use a technique effective and non-invasive able to restore fullness, volume and harmony to the skin and contours of the face.
What is it about?
Autologus Lipofilling, is the transfer of fat from one body part to another in order to increase the volume of body areas emptied or depressed, it has become a standard procedure used in numerous interventions of plastic and aesthetic surgery.
But it is a new methodology?
In modern literature many studies have confirmed efficacy of this technique in the treatment of scars, especially in patients with burns in which the scar tissue is often very extended and compromise.
All the most recent studies report dramatic improvement in the quality of the scars, with a high rate of patient satisfaction in the final evaluation of the cases studied.
Is important, in summary, the method of communicating vessels?
Although we still don’t know the mechanisms responsible for this improvement, it is assumed that the mesenchymal stem cells and numerous growth factors contained in the fat sucked during lipofilling, contribute to the remodeling and rejuvenation of the skin and scarring.
In all treated cases there was an improvement of scars also in terms of reduced pain, greater uniformity of pigmentation and color, less rigidity and irregularities, greater flexibility.
Many cases also from me treated have shown that autologous lipofilling is a very effective technique for the treatment of facial scars, with great satisfaction on the part of patients.
How is this surgery?
This intervention includes a series of sessions at a distance of about 3/6 months apart, during which the fat taken from the patient is re-injected into the scar tissue in order to fill the groove of the scar and revitalize the dermis . In the period between a session and the other, a part of the fat will be reabsorbed, but a much lesser extent to what happens with the use of fillers laboratory. After it has stabilized, you can perform a second treatment in order to fill in the most deprived areas.
