Chiarugi Firenze Brand was founded in 1969by Remo Chiarugi following Florentine leather artisan tradition and now of his son Emiliano who lives his Tuscan passion in a contemporary way, a lifetime to learn and create, invent , changing a thing as a bag in art, fashion, creativity. Emiliano is an entrepreneur who pays particular attention to the past looking at the future, before being designer is an art son of an art father born with smell skin of his father’s workshop.

Chiarugi Firenze choose a different way from other designers, researches and creates a male line for an elegant male world because leather is inside fashion, furnishing and footwear, due consideration to a great quality Tuscany craftsmanship. Male today is consumer as much as female in fashion business and prefer less but better in terms of quality and value, respecting environment, laws, people.

Nowadays producers must have great respect for leather history and art, so this brand is called Chiarugi Firenze, in Florence “Santa Croce” area is closely related to this, once you rinse all in Arno, a few steps from “Santa Croce” Church. In 1300 Florence was famous for leather production from tanning to packaging and export. Those who took care of tanning and processing of leather were enrolled in art of tanners or Galigai in1282.

Tanning, Tanning, treatment that allows leather to be worked, was exercised in Ponte Vecchio, where could be rinse in Arn.

Interview now Emiliano Chiarugi from Chiarugi Firenze Brand:

Craftsman means hands and brain, technique later, but first of all to do with hands what brain thinks, creates, decides, dreams…

Then we can think to find best leathers research, tanning, vegetable colors, metallic parts and all accessories involved to obtain final object.

I consider myself a “master craftsman” and it means talking of Tuscany, of Florence which is always school of thought and art, because many artist were born here, from all areas: from Renaissance  “workshops” of as Verrocchio, Botticelli, Ghirlandaio, Leonardo.

In training schools today older teach to younger, it’s a world of “culture” of labor, our unique and exclusive crafts; I learned everything from my father, he was a true “master of art”.

Before artisans were alone but now we have schools as places to preserve and renew crafts culture that paradoxically has more attention abroad than in Italy.

This work could’t survive without young people able to interpret and renew this philosophy of Made in Italy. Abroad is increasingly consider an honor to learn craftsman art in Italy this craft “glamour” is yet to be rediscovered.
